Whistler XTR-695SE Extreme Quickness to Sniff out and Alert to Weak 34.7Ghz Instant-On
To be a top performing radar detector, the detector must balance several aspects of performance concurrently, namely: sensitivity, selectivity, quickness, and dynamic range. In this particular situation the Whistler XTR-695SE, I suspect, sniffed out either very weak constant-on Ka or weak instant-on Ka from either behind or from the side road as we proceed under the overpass of an intersecting highway. At the time of the recording, 34.7Ghz Ka IO (instant-on) was heavily being used on this stretch of road. Both though the Beltronics STi-R and the Escort Passport 9500ci are clearly more sensitivity detectors all around, these value-priced Whistlers are quicker in alerting to radar sources, which can make theme appear more sensitive, when they are not necessarily, just quicker. These kinds of performance showings would be similar to each of the three new SE models being introduced to the marketplace: Whister Pro-78 SE, Whistler XTR-690 SE, Whistler XTR-695 SE. The duration of this encounter has included a sufficiently long approach and departure from the alert point to establish a better context of performance.
